The number one answer we hear when we ask this question, if they’re being completely honest, is always financial. Everyone wants more money. Money will fix all our problems, right? However, the easiest way to get to the real answer of what’s driving people need to be come an investor is to repeat the question and ask, “why, why, why?”. The reason for this is to dig into each layer of potential answers getting closer to your true answer.
For example, people will say, “I want more money,” to which a reply, “but why do you want more money.”They might say something like, “I have too much debt, I’m sick of living paycheck to paycheck,” or “I don’t want to work till I’m 80.” Again, ask something like, “why are you sick of living to paycheck to paycheck?” (Are you catching on yet?) we ask, “why,” till we understand the real reason. This reason is NEVER actually that we want more money. We just want more! (And that’s okay!) More freedom to do the things we enjoy, more quality interactions with the ones we love, more vacations, more opportunities to help others, just more time! We think we want more money, but we really want the financial freedom to be able to do what we want to do, when we want to do it.
Now again, why do you want to be an investor? This time, before you answer, how many times can you ask yourself why? What’s the real reason that you want to do this? What drove you to this point? What we can promise you is that whatever your reason may be, investing can be the solution. Remember, everyone has a different why, but as we say here at Legacy, “If your why doesn’t make you cry, it’s probably not big enough.” Once you know the why, we can teach you the how. There are so many opportunities for you to pursue your goals and to enjoy the life you want to live.
